Who You’ll Meet
Our book signing agenda is still materializing, but here are a few authors that will be available for book signings at the conference this year:
André Leu serves as the international director for Regeneration International, an organization that promotes regenerative farming systems. He has an extensive knowledge of farming and environmental systems across Asia, Europe, the Americas, Africa and Australia from more than 40 years of visiting and working in over 100 countries. André and his wife, Julia, have an organic tropical fruit farm in Daintree, Australia. He lectures around the world.
Nicole Masters is an independent agroecologist, systems thinker and educator. She has a formal background in ecology, soil science and organizational learning. She has been providing agricultural consulting and extension services since 2003. Nicole is recognized as a knowledgeable and dynamic speaker on the topic of soil health.
Nicole is the author of For the Love of Soil – a book about strategies for a soil-first approach to our landscapes, restoring natural cycles, and bringing vitality back to ecosystems.
Mark Shepard is a farming consultant. He and his family have transformed a typical 140-acre row-crop dairy farm into a permaculture-based perennial-agricultural ecosystem using oak savannah, successional brushland and Eastern woodlands as ecological models. In all, they have planted 100,000 trees on this property. The result is one of the first and finest farm-scale models of permaculture in the United States. New Forest Farm features chestnut, hazelnut and fruit trees, a variety of other fruits and vegetables, chickens, ducks, pigs and other animals.
Marty Travis is the proud owner of Spence Farm, which he runs with his wife, Kris and son, Will. Their farm supplies organic vegetables and heritage meats to some of the top kitchens in the City of Chicago. In 2019, Spence Farm was highlighted in the documentary, Sustainable.
Marty is the author of My Farmer, My Customer: Building Business & Community Through Farming Healthy Food.
